Buying A Pair Of Smart Black Retro Shoes
Old is gold, I heard someone saying the other day. I never believed in it until the other day when I decided I needed to get myself a new pair of shoes. Knowing what I wanted I did a recon of the major stores in my area and I was astonished to see the variety these stores had. Even more astonishing was the fact that I just didn't like the look of all those new and snazzy pairs of shoes with screaming bright colours and patterns that, plainly put, spelt gaudy. Instead I was attracted to some simple looking black retro shoes occupying a place of little importance in the corner of the shoe shelves. 2 years back I wouldn't have even bothered to travel the distance down to the corner of the racks. Instead now I found an invisible force pulling me towards them. When I asked what model the shoes were I was in for one of the biggest shock of my life. The keyword 'Retro' stunned me.
Coming to think of it now, the retro look is in, the modern is out. When I roam about on the streets I see girls wearing hush puppies instead of pumps, boys wearing loafers and sandals instead of sneakers. As someone once said, history repeats itself. I find it coming true again.

The age of old, as I like to put it, gave us many good things. One of them was the so called retro look. We had the Elvis looks and the Beatles fanatics, leather pants and tight shirts, but I guess the only thing worthwhile were the shoes. Also interesting is the fact that most of the shoes then were black in colour. That brings us back to our topic. Black retro shoes. What were they? Well looking back now, most of the shoes were black in colour and now all of them are retro. So well, how do we distinguish among them? Looking closely, one may find that though the build was the same, there were minute differences among all the shoes. Some had a lining, others had a pattern, yet others had symbols and some didn't have anything at all. But they all looked dashingly smart when someone wore them and were a symbol of informality and ease at the time.
One could say, it all started with the emergence of basketball as one of the biggest sports in America. Players started being worshipped and were looked upon as idols. Also the fact that since most of the players were Afro-American, who have an inbred genius at the game of basketball, people all across the world started getting interested. And all these players wore sneakers. So the world got hooked onto sneakers. Some of the most popular black retro shoes were the Nike Black Fives series, which was meant to be a basketball shoe but was worn by just about anyone, player or not. Also, the Dunk series by Nike made it big. The Saucony Jazz and the Rocketdog Series also were popular picks among buyers. Well, that fateful day when I walked into the store, I picked for myself a Harlem Rens premium retro limited edition shoe. I made my choice. Would you?
