Michael Jordan Sneakers Donned By The Legend Himself
Michael Jordan always preferred the Air Jordan sneakers of the Nike Company which were made after his name. Michael Jordan sneakers were released as various models starting from Air Jordan I and going on to Air Jordan XXI.
Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1963. As a child, his main interest was baseball, but played a bit of football and basketball. His concentration shifted to basketball only when his elder brother began beating him everyday in their one-on-one basketball matches. This stirred Jordan into trying harder at basketball. He got into the Laney High School team, but was dropped from the varsity team as a sophomore. This affected him so much that he began spending hours together on the court practicing day after day without relenting. His efforts paid off and he led the team to victory in the championship. Jordan joined NBA in 1984 and was picked by the Chicago Bulls. In his first season, Jordan proved to everyone that he was a forced to be reckoned, finishing with 28.2 points per game in the rookie season. He was named 'Rookie of the Year'. He also made it to the All-Star team, and led the Chicago Bulls to three consecutive championship victories in the years 1991, 1992, 1993. Jordan played the 1992 Summer Olympics as a part of the Dream Team and averaged 12.7 points per game, enabling the team to win the gold medal.

The first Air Jordan, Air Jordan I was designed by Peter Moore in 1985, and ironically, Jordan didn't think much of it. The National Basketball Association deeply disapproved the model, saying the red and black color combination of the model was too vibrant and defied the league's design rules. Michael Jordan himself stated that the shoes looked like the devil's shoes. The next model, Air Jordan II was released in 1986 and MJ wore it in a match, where he broke his ankle. This got a lot of bad reputation for the model and the public blamed the faulty design for the accident.
The Air Jordan III designed by Tinker Hatfield was the next model, which is the personal favorite of Michael Jordan till date. Ironically, this model didn't sell well when released but it was a huge success when it was retroed in 2001. After this, Air Jordan IV and Air Jordan V were released but they were worn by MJ though they sold well in the market owing to the brand name. This was because MJ had preferred the Air Jordan III. When the Air Jordan VI was released, Jordan's attention shifted to the new model. This was the shoe he wore when he won his first championship. The next model was Air Jordan VIII which was released when Jordan went to the Olympics with the Dream Team. This model featured Jordan's Olympic jersey number, which was unique and made this model popular among collectors. When the Jordan IX was released, Jordan announced his first retirement and wore them on his post-Bulls baseball matches. Jordan then returned to basketball when the Air Jordan X was released. Jordan wore the Air Jordan X throughout 1995. The Air Jordan XI and XIII were personal favorites of Jordan which he used during the mid 1990s. After this, the Air Jordan XVI was the shoe that Jordan used during his comeback for the second time to basketball.
