How The Puma Shoes Empire Began
A long time ago, a young German kid had a dream. A dream to make it big in life. Rudolph Dassler, son of a worker in a shoe factory, had a dream to conquer the world. Rudolph Dassler was a dreamer. Rudi Dassler started off small and along with his brother Adolf Dassler, who would later go on to become the founder of the world's second largest shoe manufacturing company called Adidas, started making shoes in the backyard of his house. Their famous break came when Adolf Dassler traveled to Berlin during the Berlin Olympic Games and convinced the legendary American runner Jesse Owens to put spikes on the soles of his running shoes. Jesse Owens went on to win 4 gold medals and the Dasslers made it big.
After the unfortunate split up of Rudi Dassler with his brother Adi, Rudi set up a factory and named it Ruda and later changed it to PUMA sport. With all his experience and skill, Rudi Dassler slowly but steadily built his empire, always in competition with his brothers company, Adidas. With the advancement of technology in the field of communication and television and the introduction of advertisements, Rudi jumped at the opportunity and capitalized on the sports boom that was sweeping nations and viewers across the world off their feet.
