Rare Retro Shoes Are Collectors Items

Rare Retro Shoes

Rare retro shoes are old. They are rare. And they are expensive. They also don't sport most of the technologically advanced features that the newer installments of the sports shoe industry churn out. But they are one of the most sought after products in today's world.

The first question one would ask is an obvious why. All the above mentioned reasons seem good enough to scare any shoe enthusiast or a customer in general. But in reality, it is not so. In fact, it is quite the contrary. Such rare retro shoes seem to hold a rustic appeal to everyone who's interested in shoes. Most people are expert collectors and will do almost anything to buy a rare retro shoe. This means saving up, even if it means skipping a meal a day. Other people get into collecting shoes once they become fans of people who wore those shoes. Example: the Air Jordan series. Michael Jordan probably wouldn't have expected the series to become such a rage. Of course, most people who buy these rare retro shoes wouldn't even dream of wearing them. They'll probably preserve it in a cupboard where it will remain their most cherished possession for years to come.

Rare Retro Shoes

Here are some of the shoes that have held the attention of fans all over the world.

Nike Air Force One 1982

The Nike Air Force I was the first Nike shoe to sport a full length air sole. The Nike Air Force I shoes have gained much popularity among the hip hop crowd. Ever since this rare retro was released in the early 1980s, the period when the hip hops began to take over, Air Force I joined the hip hop community and started to rise as well. Hip hop culture, being closely associated with the alleys of New York and the slam dunks in that area, a large number of upcoming sportsmen hailing from the streets of Brooklyn reached the top while donning the Nike Air Force I. There are three different models in these Air Force I shoes, the low, the mid-top, and the high-top. They also come in various colors, forms, textures and patterns. The two most common forms of the Air Force I are the all white and, all black pairs.

Air Jordan 1

The first installment of the much popular Air Jordan series was designed by Peter Moore and released in 1985. And to put it short, it was a revolution of sorts in the area of shoe design. Though this shoe was improved a great deal in the forthcoming installments, this first edition is a true rare retro shoe and is a true collector's item. It first became for all the wrong reasons. The National Basketball Association, or the NBA, initially banned it because the red and black colour combination did not adhere to the NBA rules that were established at that time. That aside even Michael Jordan was not so enthusiastic about the shoe and was reported to have called it 'devil shoes' due to its colour. Overcoming all this, the shoe still remains a fan favourite.

These rare retro shoes will burn a pretty large hole in one's pocket. But, if you're a collector, you won't mind it at all, will you?
