Retro Jordan Shoes

Retro Classic

Michael Jordan has been hailed as one of the greatest basketball players to ever walk on the face of the National Basketball Association. As a tribute to him, the Retro Jordan shoes were released in 1994. This was after Jordan's first retirement. The shoes were far from a hit and most considered the series a failure. How was this a retro classic in the making? Only time would tell.

The second installment of the retro Jordan shoes was a resounding success. The Air Jordan IV created such hype and was such a rage that experts even today believe that it is popular as a collector's item. It was released in 1999. One could witness a large crowd at many places when these retro classics were released. It has been quoted that the retro Jordan series was one of the best things that happened to the Air Jordan series.

Air Force One

These retro classics were designed by Bruce Kilgore. They were the first series to have the Nike air technology in them. The Nike Air Force One saw its debut in 1982, and was dedicated exclusively for the sport of basketball. It is not wrong to say that these shoes retain their popularity even today. Nike Air Force One was named after the Air Force One plane that carries the President of the United States of America. It has been said that the Air Force One series lost some ground in the 1990s but after that, they made a remarkable comeback.

The current craze and popularity of the Air Force One series can be ascertained by two factors. Firstly, the availability of stores that will produce a customized version of the shoes depending on the colour that the user wants. Secondly, each city has come out with its own version of Air Force One. There is the Japan version, the Beijing version, the Paris version and more on the same lines. These shoes are also endorsed by some of the happening players in the National Basketball Association, like Amare Stoudamire, Rasheed Wallace and Kobe Bryant.

In conclusion, one might want to ask: what use do these shoes still hold? There are better versions now, right? Yes, that is correct. There are better versions out there. But these are retro classics. They are collector material. Some of the aforementioned shoes are priced very high on the scale and one might have to save up for quite a while before he or she can buy them. But I guess only collectors can share the joy that comes with buying a retro classic.
